When should I schedule my maternity session?
I recommend scheduling your maternity session as soon as you can to be sure that can plan in advance for your session. I recommend that we pick a day/time that is between your 32nd and 36th week of pregnancy.
What location should I choose for my maternity session?
I love shooting maternity photos both in my studio, as well at local outdoor locations. If you are wanting some photos that reveal your pregnant belly, you may be more comfortable doing so in my studio. Outdoor sessions are also great because of the availability of natural sunlight, as well as the variety of landscape and scenery. I have knowledge of a variety of locations local to the Mansfield area, as well as locations throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. We can discuss the pros and cons of each session location during your on the phone or in person planning session with me. If you desire both studio and on-location maternity portraits, I recommend booking a full maternity session, however if you prefer one over the other, then a mini-maternity session could be a great choice.
Who may be included in my Maternity Session?
The Mom & Dad to-be should expect to both be involved in the Maternity Session. Some photos will just be of Mom, while others will incorporate the special bond & relationship between Mom & Dad before baby’s arrival. If you have other siblings that you would like to include in your full maternity session, please let me know ahead of time so that we can be sure to plan for their participation.
I booked a Newborn Session, and would like to take advantage of the complimentary mini-maternity session, what is included in a mini-maternity session?
I’m so excited that you’ve decided to book your Newborn Session with me! Mini Maternity Sessions take place at one location, either in studio, or within 10 miles of Mansfield, TX; last up to 45 minutes, and provide you with 5-10 images that you may choose to purchase as a print, product, or digital file. If you’d like to include siblings, and/or would like to have maternity portraits featuring studio and on-location portraits, I would recommend asking about upgrading your mini-maternity session to a full maternity session.
When should I schedule my Newborn session?
Newborn sessions should be scheduled as early as your 12th week of pregnancy. This will ensure that you have priority booking once baby arrives. Once baby arrives, newborn sessions are usually scheduled between 5-10 days old.
How will we figure out when the Newborn Session will take place once baby is born?
I request that parents call, email, or text me as soon as baby is born, usually within 24 hours. Some parents let me know when they are heading to the hospital, others wait until baby is born. If baby is born between 9pm and 8am, please email or text me, as opposed to calling. I will then take a look at my schedule and let you know 1-2 days andor times that I have available for your newborn session.
What should I expect on the day of the newborn session?
I will have the studio set up and ready for your newborn session. I have a variety of backdrops and props, though my clients also enjoy bringing a few props that are meaningful to them, such as a special quilt, or adorable hat or headband that they purchased, usually off of www.etsy.com
Some sessions may begin with Mom & Dad & Baby, others start with just Baby. We will determine how to start the session based on whether baby is wide awake, drowsy, or sleeping. You can expect the session to last between 1 1/2 hours and 4 hours–it all depends on how baby is feeling. On average, sessions last 2 hours, though I always work with baby’s temperament that day, and so I ask that parents keep that day open for just the session. I will provide parents with some tips on how to prepare for your newborn session once your session is reserved. Following these tips help newborn sessions get off to a better start, and generally run more smoothly.
Who may be included in the newborn session?
I love for both Mom & Dad to be included in the Newborn session! Siblings may also be included, however priority is given to baby, then to Mom and Dad.
What is a Fresh 48 session?
A Fresh 48 session is scheduled within the first 48 hours of baby’s life, and may take place at the birthing center, hospital (check with your hospital for visiting hours), or in your home. For this session, I take more of a Lifestyle approach to photographing baby and family members interacting with baby. These sessions are considered a mini-session, and they last approximately 45 minutes. There are no posed portraits taken during a Fresh 48 session.
